Let the STEM League Coding Tournament begin!
This week we will embark on our field trip to Hogwarts! Professor Dumbledore has included some brilliant festivities to celebrate the Developers arrival. Our team has designed a week-long coding tournament that includes a fun House project, gaming workshop, escape room, and collaborative coding challenge! For each activity, you can click on the description below to find out more details about them. By Monday, you will each be sorted to your Hogwarts Houses on Discord and will be given further directions on Discord on each event.

Harleen is one of our Data Programming Instructors!
When/how did you get into tech?
The reason I got into tech was due to my love of languages. I had been learning German, French and Latin in middle school and when given the option to learn about programming languages I was quite
-
excited! Java was the first one I learned and was the main reason I decided to stay in the tech field.
Favorite quarantine hobby?
In quarantine I’ve been baking a little bit. But mostly watching a lot of TV shows and going on lots of walks to keep me sane.
Advice for students/developer about learning CS:
There are multiple ways of writing the same code so you shouldn’t beat yourself up if yours isn’t normally seen as the ‘right’ approach. Many people have a different skill set than you and comparing your code with others will only bring
-
you down. Basically just be confident in your code!
Whats your favorite part about studying tech?
My favorite part about studying tech is learning new programming languages as well as working on new projects all the time. The tech field is always changing and keeping up with it might be hard sometimes but I find it enthralling.
Favorite song/artist/movie recommendations?
I’m not a movie person, but I recently started watching Criminal Minds on Netflix and I definitely recommend it if you’re into crime shows and love binge watching🙂
